DAVID GREENMAN
Began working on the forerunners of Jane's Merchant Ships as assistant to E C Talbot-Booth 40 years ago. Talbot-Booth originated the books in the early 1930s, and also specialised in ship recognition; in 1956, he founded the Ship Recognition Corps. This is a volunteer organisation which aims to teach its members the principles of merchant ship recognition. David Greenman has been the director of the Corps for the past 18 years and the editor of Jane's Merchant Ships for 27 years.
